NLP Practitioner Course Review

An interview with software developer Tom Sedge, who trained with Coaching Leaders in Spring 2006:

Q: What did you get from the course?

Much more than I bargained for. A detailed grounding in the wonders of NLP with an ethical approach from an effective trainer. Oh, and a whole bunch of life-changing experiences each day thrown in for good measure. Best time I can recall spending.

Q: What are you doing differently as a result? What actual changes in behaviour have you noticed?

I am running at a much slower speed, feeling more grounded and relaxed. I find myself working more in the moment, only responding to pressing present needs, and much calmer about the future. My whole approach to working with other people has changed, and my work colleagues have had to adapt to having much greater autonomy and responsiblity.

Q:
What changes in behaviour have other people noticed?

My speed and general good nature. I have just been graded as the most professional member of my department (50 people), which is quite a contrast from a year ago when I was warned about my conduct.

Q: What changes in your thought patterns have you noticed?

Much more positive thinking, unconscious reframing, repeated asking of: "What is this negative emotion trying to teach me?". A much greater flow of information during dreams. In the past they used to be easily remembered and stick to a single narrative. Now it is much harder to follow them, great flashes and changes and generally it feels like much more processing is going on.

Q: What changes in your mood have you noticed?

Bad moods don't last unless I make a conscious effort! I am less up and down and overall much more positive.

Q: What have you achieved since starting the course and to what extent has what you have learned has helped to achieve this?

I have achieved much greater balance within myself and a huge clarity around many areas of my life. This has been directly down to the NLP learnings and understanding of mind-body interactions. Most effective of all have been the practical exercises.

Q: How did you feel while you were doing the course?
Relaxed, energised, safe, interested, challenged, satisfied.

Q: What would you say to a friend or colleague if they asked you what the benefits of the course are?

Radically increasing your effectiveness in every area of your life and giving you the capacity to change in ways you didn't think possible.

Q: If you were asked by your employer to make a business case for sending someone on the course, what features/benefits would you include?

Greatly enhanced confidence, presentation and negotiation skills, plus enhanced ability to motivate others. Learning to focus on every aspect of the job that could be improved to maximise return on investment.

Q: Anything else you want to add?

I felt like I'd won the lottery at the end of the course (and still do now). It's been totally transformational for me and I heartily recommend it.
